Schwalbe British 4X Series - Round 6 Preview: Leamington

30 August 2013  |

This Sunday, 1st September, sees the Schwalbe British 4X Series travelling to Leamington Spa in Warwickshire for the final round of the 2013 Series.

The track in Leamington will provide a fantastic end to what has been an awesome 2013 Series. Local Elite rider Nathan Parsons has been working nonstop over the last few weeks to ensure that the track is in prime condition and ready for the riders to do battle as they fight for the overall series positions.

With a few track changes, some new jumps and an extended pro line, the stage is set for this weekend. The track is also perfect for spectators to see every inch of the track from almost anywhere on the hill side.

WHO TO WATCH:

Just ahead of the 2013 4X World Championships that take place in Leogang, Austria in 3 weeks time, most of the British 4X team will be in Leamington in their final race preparation before the Worlds. The queen of British 4X, Katy Curd will be racing and looking for another win in 2013. With this flowing track throwing up more than a few surprises in the past, look for Jess Greaves, Heather Kay or Megan Wherry to challenge Katy. Elite women have had upwards of 15 riders at every race in 2013. Will Leamington provide the highest numbers to date......

With Katy being the queen of British 4X then the King has been Scott Beaumont. Boom Boom has had his best ever season in 2013 and has taken the British series by the scruff of its neck. Leamington though may provide the best chance all year for the other Elite riders to take the win. Nathan Parsons, Tom Dowie, Isaac Mundy, Will Evans, Duncan Ferris and a host of other elites will be gunning for the win.

The elite men have had around 30 riders at every race so far in 2013, so with a field as strong as that, it really could be anyone’s race.

The 2013 Schwalbe British 4X Series has been superb. Loads of new faces, great racing at every race and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that is rarely found at gravity mountain bike races. If you ever thought, I’d like to give 4X a go, but I’m not sure, well the wait is over. Everyone who has ever ridden Leamington loves the place. The track is great for beginners and elite riders and with the track being open all day Saturday, you can get a full weekend of riding and experience in 4X.

With the British Downhill Series now finished and the BMX British Championships marking the end of the national BMX season last weekend, this is the chance for downhillers and BMX riders to come and give 4X a go. We guarantee you will have an absolute blast.
